Children’s Book Week Children’s Book Week has started and this year it’s all about “Lekker Eigenwijs!” We are super excited to discover this playful and creative theme with the children. With books like Mees Kees to Matilda and from the NEEhoorn to the brave knight , the children read all about characters who are a little bit stubborn and contrary. At our childcare locations we encourage children to discover their own quirky side. Reading plays a major role in this. Children who can read well understand what they read better and this is very important for the rest of their lives. BoekStart BoekStart, an initiative of the Gooi+ library, stimulates reading from a young age. Parents receive a free book package for their baby and can go to the library for tips on reading aloud. Kinderopvang Huizen has a partnership with the library to introduce young children at the daycare to books. Through various activities with and around books, we contribute to the development of your child. Carefully selected picture books are the starting point for this. Voorleesexpress The VoorleesExpress in Huizen, also an initiative of the libraries, supports children from 2 to 8 years old in their language development. Volunteers work on the language development of children in families’ homes for twenty weeks. They play language games, read aloud and thus stimulate the pleasure of reading. Kinderopvang Huizen draws parents’ attention to this opportunity in order to better support children at home in language. This partnership ensures that children not only improve their language skills, but also lay a strong foundation for a good start at primary school.
