Children’s Book Week 2020 will take place from Wednesday, Sept. 30 through Sunday, Oct. 11. This year’s history theme is “And Then?” you don’t need a time machine to discover other times. Books bring history to life. With Children’s Book Week, attention is drawn annually to the importance of reading for and with children.

The importance of (pre)reading

(Reading aloud) is an important part of the day’s activities at the child care center. It contributes to children’s language development and ability to concentrate, but it also stimulates creative and imaginative skills.

We regularly collaborate with the library of Huizen for fun activities concerning (pre)reading and new books. We also have a group of enthusiastic employees internally who, as “Language and Reading Coordinator, put (pre)reading on the map on location.

CALL:

Old children’s books or magazines left over? Turn them in at the shelter.
Our locations are always interested in fun children’s books or magazines that can be used to supplement current offerings. So if you have any children’s books or magazines at home that are no longer being used, please feel free to bring them to any of our locations.
